During the early 1980s, sophisticated users of voice and data systems demanded better ways to connect their branch offices in order to centralize services. Local exchange companies did not provide these services in a timely manner or at competitive prices. Recognizing these customer needs, we began developing strategies to provide high quality services more responsibly and with greater reliability.
 
Today we are one of the largest providers of alternative local telecommunications services in the country, providing businesses with high quality voice, data, and video services. Our primary base of operations is in Indianapolis, Indiana, with local line access in 37 cities nationwide.
 
We resell and operate 100% of our services over digital fiber optic Sonet networks, comprised of over 130 miles of fiber optic backbone with six loops and numerous rings.
 
Our services include DSO, DS1, and DS3 private line access; OC3, OC12, and OC48 Sonet services for MAN applications; and high speed LAN-to-LAN, FDDI, and ATM services.
 
Our state-of-the-art telecommunications technology and services utilizes OC48 Sonet backbone with dual node topology. This configuration (in downtown Indianapolis and in Carmel) allows us complete diversity and redundancy in the network, creating one seamless telecommunications system throughout the extended Indianapolis metropolitan area.
 
What does this arrangement mean to you as a prospective user? It means that the network we have in place is virtually “failsafe”, a distinct advantage over other central office “patchwork quilt” networks.
 
For business customers, there are even more advantages. Because we utilize networks that feature dual node architecture, the management of business services can be centralized at either node. This promises more flexibility in end user services. If a customer wishes to diversify service among several long distance carriers, we can split traffic at the node and provide circuits to multiple carriers.
 
Sonet technology geared to the customer’s needs is another major advantage that we provide. Businesses today need flexible, robust network architecture that can easily be upgraded as bandwidth and other capacity needs increase.
 
Information systems, with the demands of huge database, Local Area Network, and wide area network services, require high quality and flexibility that can be upgraded “on the fly”.
 
Our systems provide a minimum OC3 Sonet service to each customer, giving the end user a capacity for three DS3 services. This also means “drop and insert” flexibility for easy upgrades.
